People often talk about self-confidence, it is something you are either born with or you don't have at all. But it is just not true because confidence is a skill that can be learned. self-confidence is like a muscle that can be trained and put to work.

For some, confidence comes naturally, but for most, it’s harder to achieve especially in unfamiliar situations or with unfamiliar people. Research shows that people who are more confident are more likely to get noticed and get more leadership opportunities than their counterparts.

5 tricks you can use to exude self-confidence that you can use every day

Posture —

Standing tall with your shoulder rolled backward will make you look and feel more confident. It has many health benefits too.

Smiling—

Research shows that people who smile often are perceived as more confident than those who avoid doing it. Smiling instantly brightens up your face and the person you’re talking to. And your voice sounds soft when you smile.

Make eye contact —

Maintaining eye contact is crucial for increasing your perceived confidence, without it you’ll look more scattered and inattentive. I have noticed a huge difference in my life after following this trick. It makes you look trustworthy and confident. but the idea is to make eye contact and not stare. Do take short breaks.

Speak slowly and clearly —

Speaking too quickly or in a low tone of voice can make you appear less confident. people who take a pause, and speak slowly with a clear tone naturally look way more confident than the ones who speak in a blur and hurry. Next time when you are addressing a meeting try this small trick, and you’ll see a difference.

Occupying little more space around you —

As I mentioned above posture plays a very important part in making you look confident. People who slouch or minimize appear underconfident and uncertain. This one is just an extension of what I mentioned. occupying a little more space around you can make you look more confident. This has something to do with human psychology.

Final thoughts

Self-confidence can be practiced it is not something you are born with. The only thing preventing you from being able to implement these strategies regularly is practice. The more you practice appearing confident, the more naturally it will come to you, and the more confident you’ll look and feel. Try pretending at first, to trick your mind until it comes naturally.
