When we think of self-love we easily picture someone with sheet masks on or with lit scented candles while sipping on some red wine. But my friend self-love is so much more than that.

Self-Love means to fully accept yourself with all the flaws and imperfections that make you unique as an individual.

We’re so busy chasing perfection that we forget to make time for ourselves. some people even think it’s selfish to take care of yourself and your own needs. No, it’s absolutely not. you are mistaken if you think that way. If you put yourself first and think about your own well-being and mental peace you’re not doing anything wrong. It shows that you value yourself.

Self-love is the missing piece of the puzzle to living a great life. Self Love is your superpower.

Here’s why self-love is so important:

  1. It’s important for your mental well-being — you can never be at peace if you don't accept yourself completely. accepting yourself with all your flaws and imperfections gives you an edge over others. you’re less likely to suffer from anxiety and depression. because you no longer chase validation from others and ultimately acquire a more happy and more positive state of mind.
  2. You become more secure in life — insecurity creeps in when you look out to get approval from others. whereas when you accept yourself the way you’re your need to constantly chase for approval is gone. when you love yourself, you protect yourself and it brings security.
  3. You always have someone to depend upon — There’s only one person in this world you can completely trust and rely on and that is you. when you love and fully accept yourself you’ll always find a way to face any challenging situation in life.
  4. It helps you have better relationships in life — self-love plays a significant role in your relationships with others. when you’re happy and content with yourself. you tend to pass on that love to others around you. After all, you give what you have. if you love yourself, you’re more likely to love the other person in life.
  5. Self-Love is responsible for setting boundaries — when you set boundaries it clearly indicates you value yourself more than anything else. you stop pleasing others and saying yes to things you don’t want to. The way you treat yourself is how you set the tone for others to treat you.

Final Thoughts

Self-love is so important and often underrated.

It’s important to take some time off from your daily routine and spend a few moments with yourself and do the things that give you happiness. Even if it is for 5 mins. Be honest with yourself and be in the moment for those 5 mins. It can be anything listening to your fav music, or reading a book do what is relaxing to you and gives you utmost happiness.
